Children's Development Programs
Children who attend Meela have the opportunity to participate in a large variety of activities and learning experiences which have been planned to meet their developmental needs.
Our staff are responsible for creating an atmosphere and environment which is responsive to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and individual needs of each child and to the group as a whole. The children’s developmental programs will reflect the philosophy and goals of the service.
The program will take into account a balance between indoor and outdoor play, quiet and boisterous times, individual and group experiences, spontaneity and children’s special needs. In the event of wet weather outdoor equipment can be set up inside so that children can continue their large muscle development.
The program is developed as a result of observations taken of the children during their time at Meela. Parents are encouraged to communicate with the staff about their child’s ever changing strengths and interests. We also encourage parents to give feedback to the staff on any developmental areas they wish the staff to focus on with their child. The needs of individual children and the group as a whole are considered when programmes are prepared. This also includes children with additional needs or from different ethnic backgrounds.
Parents can view their child's individual developmental documentation at any time which is convenient to both the qualified staff member and the parents.
The centre holds parent evenings throughout the year that allows parents to discuss their child’s development with the qualified caregiver and support caregivers within their child’s room.
The developmental program will be displayed within your child’s room. Meela encourage parents to have input into the program development. If you have a particular talent you could share with the Centre please speak to the qualified staff member of your child’s room. (i.e.: multi-cultural, music, story telling, cooking, and art/craft)
Photographs are taken and displayed so that parents can have an insight into the activities and events that take place in the centre.
Meela Child Care Centre can cater for children with special needs. Children with special needs that cannot be catered for within the usual day-care routine will be integrated into the whole group with additional support from a supplementary (SUPS) worker. A referral to other professionals is made either directly by the parent, or by the Director after permission is given by the parent.
