Meela Child Care Centre (Meela) is a 55 place, Mount Lawley community-based not for profit Centre governed by a Management Committee formed by volunteer parents & community members and is run on a daily basis by our Centre Director.
We aim to provide quality education and care for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Meela aims to promote a trusting and safe environment that reflects the 7 Quality Areas for your children while in our care.
Meela offers developmentally appropriate curriculums in each of our rooms that comply with the requirements set out in the National Quality Standard. These curriculums are displayed in each room along with each child’s individual learning journals which are documented online so parent/guardians and invited family members can view their child’s learning at any time. Our curriculum is flexible and allows for spontaneous play and child-led experiences along with intentional teaching experiences and educator-led experiences to scaffold children’s learning and development. We believe children learn through play and that adults and children can learn together. Family input is always welcome and if you have any ideas or suggestions for our curriculum, please speak to your child’s educators.
Meela also uses StoryPark to communicate children’s’ learning stories to parents and it also provides a communication platform for news from the Centre to our Parent/Guardian community.
The Service follows the ratios set out in the National Education and Care Regulations:
- 1:4 for children under 2 years of age
- 1:5 for children aged between 2 and 3 years
- 1:10 for children aged between 3 and 5 years
