Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and being wheel chair bound has never held Samantha Burling back from doing what she loves…caring for and teaching children.
A previous Child Care Educator at the City of Fremantle Childcare Centre, Samantha left when she was no longer able, and now spends her Monday’s volunteering here with us at Meela Child Care.
‘Sam has had a huge impact on the children and they absolutely love her’ Says Centre Director Cimlie Bowden.
‘She is an intrinsic part of the Meela Community and Sam and her wheelchair have shown many children and staff at Meela that education and care can be done in many different ways. Sam may be different but at Meela we embrace and are blessed by that difference’ says Cim.
Sam says that she ‘loves being around children and enjoys the way in which they see things as they are so inquisitive and accepting, and they especially love her ‘zoomy’ wheelchair and awesome driving skills’.
The centre held a celebration on Monday 10th September where Sam was joined by her friends to celebrate her 50th Birthday milestone and her wonderful contribution to the centre and children.
