Meela EARLY LEARNING (Meela) is a 55 place, Mount Lawley community-based not for profit Centre.
We provide quality early learning and care for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Meela provides a safe and nurturing environment offering developmentally appropriate learning outcomes in each of our rooms that comply with the requirements set out in the National Quality Standard. These curriculums are displayed in each room along with each child’s individual learning journals.
Our learning is flexible and allows for spontaneous play and child-led experiences along with intentional teaching experiences and educator-led experiences to scaffold children’s learning and development. We believe children learn through play and that adults and children can learn together. Family input is always welcome and if you have any ideas or suggestions for our curriculum, please speak to your child’s educators.
THE DIFFERENCE WITH A NON-PROFIT-CENTRE
We’re FOR Community, NOT for profit.
Meela has an important place in our local community providing it with a community based not-for-profit alternative to the widely available profit based model of care. As a not-for-profit Meela betters the community by reinvesting returns into the facilities and care provided for our children.
The centre is governed by a Management Committee formed by volunteer parents and community members and is run by our Centre Director.
COMMUNICATION
Parents/Guardian’s receive daily learning stories and photos of their children via the StoryPark application which also provides a communication platform for news from the Centre to our Parent/Guardian community.
The Service follows the ratios set out in the National Education and Care Regulations:
1:4 for children under 2 years of age
1:5 for children aged between 2 and 3 years
1:10 for children aged between 3 and 5 years
VISION
Our Vision is to provide the children of the diverse community of Mount Lawley and surrounds with an opportunity to experience an excellent and rewarding early year’s education. Further to care for and support those children and their families, in a way that respects and nurtures each child’s individuality and encourages those children to become lifelong learners. Meela also endeavours to encourage respect for the environment and teach children about sustainable practices.
